The Local Space is a brick & mortar location that gives the opportunity for Canadian brands to retail their products without the hefty overhead of having their own brick & mortar location. All consignment vendors must be Canadian and be the maker or designer of the products they wish to consign (no resellers). By filling out the vendor application you agree to the following:
- The consignment pay out is split 55% to the vendor and 45% to The Local Space. The 45% includes costs associated with payment processing, consignment platform for automatic payments and tracking, labour, overhead, etc.
- The Local Space makes every effort to ensure that theft and damages do not occur. The Local Space is secured by a monitored alarm system and a qualified person or persons will be in attendance at all times when the store is open to the public. However, should any loss or damage occur, the artist/artisan/vendor understands and accepts the full risk of loss or damage to articles placed on consignment. Damaged items will be returned to the artisan.
- The vendor is responsible for delivery of products to The Local Space in Chilliwack (we are unable to accept vendor drop offs at our Langley location). Vendors are welcome to personally drop off their products or ship their products.
- To keep customers interested in products in the store, we only keep products on a quarterly basis (three months). After three months The Local Space will either inform you to pick up your products or give you the option to extend your contract for another quarter.
- Payments are made to vendors automatically via PayPal the following month (9th - 15th, give or take a couple days during busier months). Due to limitations with our software, we can only pay via PayPal.
- All products must have a tag or a surface on each product that allows for a 1"x1" barcode. We recommend tagging your products with your branding for brand recogniton.
- Before dropped off your products the vendor is required to email in a list of items that you will be dropping off, along with their retail price. To ensure your items get on the floor quickly, please provide this list a minimum of 24 hours ahead of time. Failure to send in the list ahead of time can result in your products being delayed being put on the retail floor. List can be sent to chilliwack@thelocalspace.ca
- It is encouraged that all vendors provide a logo file, short description of the founder/their business and where the business is located for marketing inside the store. Our customers love to know who is behind the brands.
We appreciate every vendor that chooses to have their brand call The Local Space home. It's important that all vendors read the above and agree to the above before filling out the application page; if you fill out the application that means you are agreeing to the above. At this time our policy is not up for negotiation inattempt to keep everything streamlined and consistent.
