Summer Snack Recipes ft. Kanel Spices

Aglio Bruschetta by Kanel Spices
The perfect fresh and delicious appy for those hot summer evenings ahead!
What you'll need:
1 large or 2 small fresh tomatoes, diced
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp of Kanel's Aglio Napoletano Spice Blend
Crackers or crostini
Preparation:
1. Blend olive oil with Aglio Napoletano.
2. Add in tomatoes and stir gently.
3. Prepare a serving plate with crackers or crostini and top with bruschetta mixture.
Montreal Bagel Avocado Toast by Kanel Spices
Because truly, what millennial doesn't thrive on a breakfast of Avocado Toast?
What you'll need:
1 medium avocado, pitted
1/2 tsp of fresh lemon juice
2 tsp of Montreal Bagel Spice
1 whole wheat bagel, sliced and toasted
Preparation:
1. Mash avocado and lemon juice in a small bowl.
2. Top bagel slices with mashed avocado mixture and sprinkle Montreal Bagel Spice generously on top.
Kanel Spices Poké Bowl
When it's just too hot to cook, this is the perfect refreshing dinner!
What you'll need:
A base of rice, noodles, leafy greens or a combination
Your choice of protein (sushi-grade raw fish, shrimp, tofu) chopped into 1/2” cubes
Fresh ingredients like cucumber, shelled edamame, green onion, or avocado
Sweet ingredients such as pineapple or mango can give your bowl a tropical taste
Ingredients with a kick, like chilis, pickled ginger or crispy fried shallots
Dressing:
Santa Fe Chipotle Honey Spice Blend
Mayo
Sesame oil
Preparation:
Choose your base and layer in your bowls
Layer your protein atop
Dress it: Drizzle your bowl with a sauce like Ponzu or DIY your dressing by mixing Santa Fe Chipotle Honey, mayo and toasted sesame oil.
Play with flavours & textures: Add in your fresh ingredients.
Serve and enjoy!
Lemon & Dill Potato Salad by Kanel Spices
A zesty take on this classic summer staple that you'll be craving all season long!
What you'll need:
1.5lbs potatoes
1 celery stalk
2 tbsp olives and/or pickles, optional
2 tbsp chopped parsley, optional
Dressing:
½ cup greek yogurt
½ tbsp dijon mustard
3 tbsp Stockholm Lemon & Dill
1 tbsp lemon juice
Preparation:
Chop potatoes into ½” pieces.
Place in large pot and cover with cool water. Bring to a boil. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, or until tender. Drained cooked potatoes.
Whisk together dressing ingredients.
Chop celery into ¼” pieces
Toss cooled potatoes with celery and dressing. Add pickles and/or olives for a briny crunch.
Cover and keep in refrigerator for at least an hour to allow potatoes to soak up dressing.
Savoury Shrimp & Pineapple Salsa by Kanel Spices
Light and fresh, this salsa is sure to be a crowd-pleaser at your summer get-togethers, with Kanel's Summer Sea Salt - as seen in the 2022 Summer Jilly Box!
What you'll need:
½ pound of cooked shrimp
2 cups fresh or canned pineapple cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 Avocado cut into ¼” cubes
1/4 cup red onion, diced finely
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 finely diced jalapeno (remove the seeds unless you like it very spicy!)
2 tablespoons lime juice
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1 tsp Summer Sea Salt
Preparation:
Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl.
Refrigerate for at least one hour to let the flavours develop.
Serve with tortilla chips, or over fresh lettuce for a summery salad.
