Growing Instructions
This unique blend of an annual, biennial and perennial flower means you’ll have new blooms to enjoy at different times of the year.
Start indoors over 6-8 weeks to plant outdoors in summer or fall, or plant directly outdoors in spring before the last frost:
-
Prepare the soil by loosening it with a garden fork.
-
Rake soil to lightly cover seeds.
-
Water area gently and keep consistently moist for 2-3 weeks.
Indoor Planting:
-
Choose a large pot (at least 12–14 inches wide and 8 inches deep) with good drainage holes.
-
Use a light, well-draining potting mix. A mix designed for flowers or a blend of potting soil and perlite works well.
-
Lightly moisten the soil before planting.
Planting Instructions:
-
Fill the pot almost to the top with soil, leaving about 1 inch of space.
-
Sprinkle the seeds, spacing them evenly across the surface:
-
Lightly press the seeds into the soil but do not bury them deeply - just barely cover.
-
Mist the surface gently with water to avoid disturbing the seeds.
Location & Light:
-
Place the pot in a bright window (preferably south-facing) where it will receive at least 6–8 hours of light daily.
-
If natural light is weak, use a grow light set a few inches above the pot.
Watering:
-
Mist or lightly water daily until seeds sprout to keep the soil moist but not soggy.
-
Once sprouted, water when the top inch of soil feels dry.
After Sprouting:
-
Thin out if needed: once seedlings have a few leaves, gently remove the weakest ones, leaving enough space for plants to grow (aim for 3–4 inches between each plant).
-
Keep in a warm, bright spot and rotate the pot every few days to keep growth even.
