Growing Instructions
Where: Full sun
When: Begin indoors in Spring
Blooms: Summer to fall
-
Begin sowing your seeds indoors in the Spring, about 6-12 weeks before the last frost. Set up a tray with seed starting mix, anp sprinkle the seeds on top of the soil. If using a plastic seedling tray, plant one seed per slot. If planting in a division-free container, space the seeds 1/2 to 1 inch apart.
-
Gently press the seeds into the soil (no deeper than 1/8 inch). For optimum growth potential, keep the soil in a warm area (about 21 degrees C).
-
Gently water the seeds and keep soil damp, but not soggy.
-
Once your plants have six or more leaves, it’s time to put them into a small pot about 2” (5 cm) in diameter, filled with fresh potting soil.
-
Once your seedlings are about 3 inches tall and daytime temperatures consistently remain above freezing, you can begin placing them outside.Start by putting them outside in a shady area; then increase the amount of time in the sun each day, but bring them inside at night.
-
After all danger of frost has passed, the seedlings can be planted in the ground in well-drained soil with full sun.
